...Baby cards galore...

This is what happens while I'm at home with my sicky babe...

As I was trying to tidy up the floor before my big day (previously posted here card making and soup day).

I just had to have a little play... DID I tidy up??? not yet...maybe today...she is still sick...just a cold and little buggy cough...one more day at home should fix her...(I hope, not going crazy inside just yet.)

Card making and soup day again...lovely weather for it...

I had a lovely day with three gorgeous friends.
We made three cards each with an intermission of gorgeous homemade creamy orange pumpkin soup and pumpkin scones...('twas the best soup ever)...J

These are the cards we made:

A Happy Birthday girly card, a Boy Happy Brithday card with the ab fab Gorgeous Grunge stamp (love this one) AND a 3D block Christmas card...using the Ronald McDonald stamp set - Tag It...as the taggie.

Cleackheaton California Beanie

Here are my knitted beanies I have made using the gorgeous and woolly Cleackheaton California range of wool.

I'm not one hundred percent sure of the colourway names here, but anyways...

I loved the colourways to start with and fell in love the wool...It was beautiful to knit up and so easy on circular needles...all you do is knit knit knit...

MINE that started all this...lol, I think it was called "circus" or something of the likes...

The Pattern:
The gauge as stated on the wool band is: 4mm knitting needles and 22 stitches by 30 rows for a 10cm (4 inch) square...and 100% wool. yummm.

SO I used a 4.5mm circular needle...love them.

For my beanie to fit my head of 56cm. I cast on 120 stitches...there's a gauge for you. You can do the maths...AND ONE BALL OF WOOL...

Cast on 120 stitches plus one to work the first and last stitch together in the first round to make the circle. Checking that you don't twist the row. (could get ugly).
Knit every round until work measures 7 inches. (my magic number here J )
I did count the rows for you and it was about 53.

Then decrease the rows... I did want 10 groups in the pattern for the decreases.

So knit 10, knit 2 together, repeat pattern...until 110 stitches remain. (my maths 10 groups of 12 stitches, easy right...)

knit 9 knit 2 together, repeat pattern until 100 stitches... you get my drift

knit 6 K2tog...70

knit 5 K2tog...60

knit 3 K2tog...40 ...if you want to change to double pointed needles, but I kept carrying on...

knit 1 K2tog...20 no more knit all rounds..J
K2tog...10
and again k2tog, break end and pull through all stitches...fasten off with yarn needle... and sew in the loose ends.

I like to write every row, where there is instruction...I tend to print it out and cross it over when I've finished a row...
Easier for me to keep count...

FOR A LARGER BEANIE:
I cast on 130 stitches and still knitted the 7 " in length, BUT the first decrease row was:
knit 11, knit 2 together, repeat pattern...until 120 stitches remain. (my maths: 10 groups of 13 stitches for the first row)
Then go back to the pattern above.

FOR A SMALLER BEANIE:
Cast on groups of 10 and start the decrease where you need to in the pattern. You could probably reduce the length by an inch or two if you make it small child size. Have fun...

Snood pattern

Here is a pattern I've made up using a "gorgeous grunge" (Stampin Up named stamp set, also loved dearly :) )  colour chunky yarn, named Sirdar Faroe...

I thought I would share this with you as I don't make cards ALL the time...soooo I might go back to blogging about ALL my other stuff tooo...

on the needles...size 10mm

Finished size is about 34" long before sewing together by 8" wide.

It took all of three balls of yarn. 

The Pattern: MOSS STITCH...

Cast On 21 stitches.
Row 1 Knit one, Purl one repeat to end of row, ending with a Knit one (as you should)
Repeat Row 1 until you have your desired length, or run out of wool, leaving enough spare to sew ends together...

The odd number of stitches allows you to never forget the pattern   LOL...EASY...

Regarding Dahlias

Regarding Dahlias stamp is my first time favourite out of the new Annual Catalogue...But there is more...I love the large chevron stamp as well...Here is a card I've made recently and I am very fond of it...Have fun looking.

I've used Smoky Slate, a new colour, for stamping the flower and the happy birthday, and then basic gray as the backing mount. I've then used Melon Mambo as the chevron stamp colouring in behind. I didn't think I had enough colour as a base, hence the block stamp effect..AND I love the way it turned out


In all it took me two days to complete 6 cards and a lot of mucking around with colour combos. lol, But I am happy now...:)

Have a scrappy crafternoon

Gday,

I've been trying to tidy up my craft spots (all over my house) and I'm finding it dreadfully difficult not to play...I found a bit of yellow (Daffodil Delight) and some very old matching DSP paper. All on a white base and I cam up with this...Love it...

AND another few cards that I'd made waiting for visitors and still desperately trying to tidy. Thinking that this was a great way to tidy up - it just takes three times as long...lol

AND before all these cards started I'd been sitting with my carfty mag and having a cuppa and I was inpsred by a scrapbook page, so I raced over to my mess and created this...I do love this and it might become my chrissy card...

AND here is HOW TO make the Cathedral Windows.

Punch circles and fold in to make them square, cut out little glimmer square and stamp a greeting. Attach to upmounted cards in matching colours...Love stampin' Up for this...Matching makes it easy...

To make a square template to fold against, I cut one circle, THEN.... fold it in half, then in half again. I cut from the edge of the fold to next edge. I used this square as a template for folding the circles against...does that make sense?

3D Bird and Rolled Rose Scallop Punch

Here are my two favourite embellishments at the moment...We all change ideas regularly...

Here is my little scrap book page I attached to some recycled card for it to stand. And then I thought I should show you how to do the rolled roses...I know there are lots of tutorials out there, but have you seen my 3D bird?? I love it too...







Three dimensional bird easy. Punch 3 birds trim tail and head to beak on 1. Staple 3 together in line of tail to beak. Fold up two birds along staple. Glue wing on with tacky glue (two way glue works awesomely) edges to edges. Attach gem/pearl for eye. Too cute. Instead of stapling you could also sew with the sewing machine, but it takes longer and looks lovely too...


The rolled rose. Punch circle or scallop. Cut in a spiral to the centre leaving a bit of round for the base. Roll tip in towards the centre with the right side inside your roll. Let it uncurl and glue base again with two way glue and push down in centre. Done. Lovely. You could also daub the edges of the rose with the same ink colour to make it more red. Cover up the cut white edge...

NEW CATALOGUE

Yay the new Catalogue is here now...woohooo...

I had an excellent day out with all the lovely ladies...

I had a little competition on my table and I loved making all the scallop projects for it...Unfortunately I gave some of them away before I got some photos. 

But nevertheless here is one I have taken, This is the door prize taggie and an instructional  picture, for you to do for yourself...I've had a lot of interest and thought I would share with you...have fun...





















The choice of retired DSP was perfect...You really do need the contrasting paper to make it stand out. Punch out 4 scallops. Cut in half. Fold a third along the cut edge, and then in half again and again forwards and backwards, see photo above. Attach to coordinating card stock circle and poke a hole through the middle for the brad. I found a brad worked best and I also snipped the points off the end.

I found and angel on pinterest and tried to replicate it without a beaded head...lollipop worked..lol

Again I have used up retired DSP to make some flowers and a boy themed card  Cased from Alison Barclay...Loved the pinpricking so to speak...and then I did find a little cupcake pincushion to add to my cupcake holder...all in fun...

Floral Framelit Flower...

Hi there.

I have had a little practice of making flowers, with inspiration from the Brisbane Stampin' Up Convention, I attended this May...It was awesome by the way...so much to show...

There are soo many gorgeous handmade paper flowers out there, AND I love making them.

Here's one that I have used the largest framelit to cut out 4 flowers with the BIG SHOT. It fits nicely on one 12 by 12 Designer Series Paper...
This piece had faded in my craft room, SO I added an inky sponge to the petals, using Primrose Petals...I love it and stuck it down to my daughters little trinkety bird house...

Here you go...

Looks like a Camillia flower, more than a rose...It turned out rather well I think...

AND here it is stuck down...More decorations are needed to the little birdhouse and when I get round to it, I'll show you a pic.
