Salmon fish skin tanning

Again there is plenty on the internet to research and this is my record on how I  did it.

One salmon skin. I froze it first apparently this helps remove the scales more easily.

Half a cup of oil I used olive oil.
One whole egg.
Some recipes call for soap but I didnt use any. Whisk together.

Soak cleaned skin for 1 to 6 hours at room temperature. I soaked overnight and was not overly keen to get up in the middle of the night to wash fish, in all they soaked for about 10 hours. This recipe can apparently tan upto 10 skins. I had one fish. Keep it stirred so as the skin keeps submerged. Next time I'll use gladwrap over the top. It did dry in a couple of lines where the folds were above the solution but it hasn't seemed to worry the overall peice.

Washed with cool soapy water. It never says hot anywhere.

Let drip dry and while moist work your skin. And dry. Some say to moisturise but I'm not sure with what... At this point again with no time to work my leather, as I set it up high so the cat wouldnt eat it. Left it till I got home after a really hot day, it has set quite hard and very dry. I added a spray of water to make it supple to work it over a piece of dowel.

And there you have it. Fish leather. I wonder how long it will last.
