Handknit PONCHO

Knitting again with a lovely very light in weight yarn. The moda vera Mountain Chalet yarn. It has a labeled tension of 16 stitches times 22 rows on 6mm needles to give you a 10cm by 10cm square.

This works for the lovely poncho I knitted in stocking stitch on 8mm needles.  I will have to knit myself one now. I dud cast on with 6mm needles as I tend to have a large loopy cast on edge otherwise.

I cast on 60 stitches, to give a poncho 50cm wide. Knit it to length 80cm. Make two.
Sew up one end to one side and then the other side in reverse. To give you a head hole of about 30cm times two equals 60cm round hole. This will fit over most heads.  If not, knit a little longer in the length...

Here is a guide to sew up...sew together one end to the side of the other.

And here are picture of the finished garment...
I then placed a few cross stitches on the joins to add a little colour, along with a crocheted rose, for a little more red...What do you think?
I love it. Beautiful, light and warm...
